Watching out for closings in my hometown Pushing out everything that caused it to boom Down is up and up is down There's no place to park, there's no more room You need solid ground to stand on Air that you can breathe Warmth of body mind and soul Food and water that is clean When you get back to the basics Forego the games we usually play And remember all that matters Isn't anything for pay After a decade at my current job Starting pay is now less than it was then Even though the work keeps getting harder And we're treated more like robots than humans Years of keeping up with the Jones Is finally breaking down As the one percent's game antes up past the sky The rest of us realize that competition can't help us get by

Kinder Way 04:16
The worst things I've done Have been actions of fear The worst that I've said Have been words born from fear My shame knows no end I knew not what I did But that doesn't matter To those that I shattered When dealing with fear anger won't help it When dealing with fear blame doesn't change it As you can see contempt fans the flames There has to be a kinder way There are stories from history That cover up fear with bravery Muddled with ego and greed Leading to damaged security I think little was with evil intentions Fear distorts our perceptions It confuses the mind Till we don't know we're blind My friend's stuck in a cage And still he is the bravest Person I've known And the most sage He said it's let him be More true to himself than he was when he was free His name is Terry Albury
3.
Invisible 03:39
Wherever she goes She'll never be seen She's long past the age Of which anyone dreams Whatever he thinks No one heeds his mind They can't get past The chair to which he is bind Nobody wants to be invisible There's a reason it's impossible In sickness and health So go the vows we make Until she's ill for too long And that promise he breaks For richer or poorer Is so easy to say Until they lose their home And get swept away Sometimes I'll go for days Without talking to anyone One of the hazards of working from home And living alone And when I finally make it out I've forgotten how to talk And no one wants to help me sort it out

Hit the Road 03:21
Feeling broke and worthless With a heart made out of steel Seeing things from every angle Doesn’t help with my appeal Getting caught up in the ruts Blowing up all the small problems Making a solitary mess Till you think you hit rock bottom You know it’s time to hit the road Get away from the typical ways Go out and find a new perspective At least for a few short days Take a car or take a train Maybe a boat, maybe a plane Breathe some different air Chop off all your hair Eat some different food Sleep in a different room Experience a new culture Maybe one less full of vultures And when it’s time to go back home Skipping states in pairs The trip back happening faster Reviving the problems left back there What else can you do now But patch things up one by one Getting away didn’t fix what was wrong But it sure had to be done
5.
You Can 03:08
Where there's a will there's a way As some people say While others are more apt to doubt What you say out loud To impress a crowd May cause the crowd to shout You can if you think you can (x3) Think you can I know I'm not alone In having parents prone To not having faith in me But I know now That says more about how They feel about themselves not me All tides will turn All paths will bend When you think it's too late It'll start to mend To do what you want to do It helps to be able to See it in your mind Visualize your dream And in no time it will seem Clear enough to find
6.
The cars have all hurried from the highway You've lit a fire in the dark His eyes light on your face Bring to the emptiness a spark From deep sleep you hear her breathing And pull the covers up to her chin As storm clouds threaten overhead She feels the demons from within But it's alright now, it's alright The night will make way to the light It's alright now, yeah it's alright You're not alone, you've made it home When she was little the big puddles were for play She hadn't yet seen them wash everything away Bright boots and cute hats made for jumping around Anything lost would always be found You will be found again You will be found again You will be found again You will be found You can't go back to yesterday But the rain will wash everything away The sun's heat upon her face Will guide you back to a warm embrace It's alright now, it's alright The night will make way to the light It's alright now, yeah it's alright You're not alone, you've made it home
